Invitation to an Infonight "Freedom of Movement" 7pm, 25th June, Croydon

For freedom of movement and the freedom to protest!

Venue: Ruskin House, 23 Coombe Road, Croydon
When: 7pm, Wednesday 25th June

Dear friends,

No Borders London believes that surveillance and control of the borders, the
expansion of deportation centres and immigration raids on communities and
workplaces divide and weaken all of us.

Several groups have called for a day of protest in Croydon to highlight
and protest against the UK Border Agency, which has a number of offices
in the town such as Lunar House, Apollo House and Electric House.

This "London Fete" will take place on 5th July 2008, which is the international
day of action against the G8, an institution crucial to the global "management"
of migration and the exploitation of migrant work. On that day people in other
countries will protest as well.

The Fete will involved both creative events (music, theatre etc) and protest
actions/demos and we would love to have local groups and individuals involved.

We would therefore like to invite you an Infonight on Wednesday 25th June
at 7pm at Ruskin House. We will talk about the role of the Home Office in
immigration controls, detention and deportations, migrant labour and the new
limitations to express protest against the current legislation.

We are looking forward to see you next Wednesday,

In solidarity, No Borders London

No Borders London is an anti-racist initiative based in London. It was
involved in organising for the Third Day of International Action for
Migrant Rights in October 2006, including a demonstration in South
London which passed Beckett House reporting centre. No Borders London
Detainee Support Group, part of the No Borders London Network, provides
practical support to refugees and migrants in detention and/or those
threatened with deportation, and works to empower their struggles
inside and outside detention centres. We actively support migrant
labour struggles for employment and social rights, including the
Justice for Cleaners campaign on the London tube and in the City of
London.
